The role
of IT cannot be underestimated as the world is shrinking rapidly by the
ever increasing reach of the network.
A hard-working student community, a committed faculty and a very healthy work-culture are the basic elements that comprise the Department of Information Technology, the hub of the institute’s academia. We hold firm belief in our ability to succeed, and we nurture an attitude of self-reliance, confidence, commitment and responsibility to the motherland that we are to serve. Such is the psychology behind the young and dynamic IT department. The external scenario in the industry clearly testifies to the statement that the advent of computers & Internet in the last decade has affected the lives of human society the world over like nothing else has. This is further corroborated by the fact that the boom in IT has created an unprecedented demand for qualified IT professionals – experts predict that by 2008, the demand will be close to a staggering 90 million in India alone. This undoubtedly explains the importance of HRD in the technology sector, if the nation is to keep pace with the fast changing world of today. A host of attributes and activities lend themselves to the existence of the department. To start with, the faculty comprises an extremely dedicated and well-qualified team of experts who know their subjects to the core. We have the latest, most comprehensive and technically relevant academic curriculum devised by the affiliating university. The syllabus includes courses as advanced as Image Processing, VLSI, Communication Systems and is in line with the emerging fields of Internet Technologies, Multimedia techniques, Software Engineering, Computer Networks et. al. IT department is ambitious enough to aspire for high goals, and is confident enough of reaching them, and setting high standards of academic excellence.
